Now you may be asking...

What is the Makerspace?

Mission

In the Clemson Makerspace, we are a team dedicated to the quality and service to students. All of our technology available is free for students to use, and the staff is here to help. What started as a simple idea back in the Fall of 2015, has blossomed into an environment that fosters collaboration and creativity across all majors. We offer students technology to create anything they might dream up. By providing training on the 3D printers and laser cutter housed in the space, we enable even the most basic level beginner to use our resources. Although we have already seen this program expand tremendously since it initially began, we hope to see it continue to expand to more disciplines.

Two unique

Locations

There are currently 2 Makerspace-run locations on Campus; The Watt Family Innovation Center and R.M. Cooper Library. The Watt Makerspace is larger and better suited for heavier duty projects, and includes our Laser engravers and large array of hand tools. The Cooper location is better suited for more creatively oriented projects, and includes our vinyl cutting machines and the Direct-to-Garment fabric printer. Our Partners

Clemson Immersive Space

The space was successfully funded by the Information Technology Student Advisory Board and is operated in partnership with Clemson University's VR Club."

Watt Family Innovation Center

"The mission of the Watt Family Innovation Center is to create an environment where collaboration between students, faculty, and leaders from industry and government agencies generates ideas and solves complex problems."

IT Student Advisory Board

In the past, this 10% has led to the funding of projects ranging from mobile development to the purchasing of new printers and other technologies in the library and academic buildings across campus."

Adobe Digital Studio

"The Adobe Digital Studio is an open-access learning space dedicated to providing students with digital production skills and the technology to use them. Our mission is to ensure the digital literacy of our students in order to guarantee their success both in the classroom and on the job market."
